The building provides

  • two stages
  • two auditoriums
  • foyers
  • offices and other related facilities

The goal was to design a building with simplicity and harmony that will attract people from Kalamata as well as from surrounding towns.

The design focused on :

  • The interior space of public facilities for its better function
  • The interior of the main auditorium for the spectators’ improved movement
  • The technical and mechanical facillities of the stafe
  • The structural behaviour of the building

The design of the main auditorium has taken into account specific accoustc study, as a result of the building been positioned at the crossroad of the main city avenue and the railway line

The design was executed in 2005-2006

The construction ended in 2008

Morphology and Aesthetic

The geometry is simple, basic cubic volumes combined with strong industrial elements.

Along the facade of the building big steel blinds are applied. The facade is enhanced during evening hours, when warm interior lighting is on.

At the public areas we have transparency when it comes to inner movement caused by the use of glass, that eliminates the boundaries betwen the visitor and the building. This way allows the building to attract more visitors since they can get a glimpse of the inside while passing by, intriguing them to explore the cultural events. The glazed volumes also decrease the feeling of a monolithic concrete building

For the rest of the building aluminum panels are used.
